For contractors and subcontractors

Pay subs on time, even from the jobsite.

The office writes the checks. The owner approves from any browser, wherever the job is. No more driving checks out for a signature. Then the office prints them and syncs them to QuickBooks Online.

$10 a month for unlimited checks. Your money stays in your own bank account.

When checks wait, the job waits

Checks wait for your signature

You're on the jobsite and the checks are at the office, so subs and suppliers wait. Late checks strain the crews and suppliers you count on.

Checks you didn't see go out

Anyone with the checkbook can write a check. You may not know until the bank statement shows up.

Backup in one pile, checks in another

The sub's invoice is in a folder and the check copy is in a drawer. When a question comes up, nobody can find the backup.

Typing it all into QuickBooks

Every check gets keyed into QuickBooks by hand. Then your bookkeeper spends month-end chasing what doesn't match.

what changes

Pay on time. Stay in control.

Approve without driving back

When a check needs you, you get an email and an in-app alert. Open it in any browser and approve it from the site. The office prints it right away.

No surprise checks

Set rules by amount and vendor, like anything over $2,500 goes to you. Only approved checks print, and every check shows who wrote and approved it.

Backup that stays with the check

Attach the sub's invoice or supplier statement, up to 3 files per check. Add the invoice number and line items. Questions get answered in seconds.

Less work for your bookkeeper

Sync approved checks to QuickBooks Online with the same number, date, amount and vendor. Your bookkeeper stops retyping, and month-end gets calmer.

how it works

From sub invoice to printed check

  1. 01

    Set up once

Add your bank account and starting check number. Import vendors from QuickBooks or a spreadsheet. Upload your signature, if your bank allows printed signatures.

  2. 02

    Decide who approves what

Your office writes the checks. Checks over the limit you set come to you, or to a project manager you name.

  3. 03

    Approve from the jobsite

Get an alert, look over the check and its backup, and approve it from any browser.

  4. 04

    Print and sync

The office prints approved checks on blank check paper with your own printer. Then they sync them to QuickBooks Online in a few clicks.

QuickBooks without the double entry

Connect QuickBooks Online and import your vendors in one click. Set each vendor's expense account once, like a Cost of Goods Sold account for subs and materials. Then sync approved checks one at a time, all of a vendor's checks, or a batch. A check with an invoice number goes in as a paid bill. If a check can't sync yet, Check Terminal tells you why in plain words.

faq

Questions, answered

Will my bank accept checks I print myself?

Every check prints with the same bank number line (the MICR line) that preprinted checks have. Use magnetic (MICR) toner if your bank asks for it. Print a test check and run it by your bank first.

Do I have to approve every check?

No. Set rules by amount and vendor. Smaller checks can go to your office manager or bookkeeper to approve, and bigger ones come to you.

I run more than one company. Does that work?

Yes. Create a multi-company account to run them all from one login. That plan (called Bookkeeper) is $39 a month for 5 companies, then $5 a month for each extra. Each company keeps its own bank accounts, vendors and register.

Can I send my bank a Positive Pay file?

Yes. Positive Pay is a service many banks offer. You send your bank a list of the checks you wrote, and it flags any check that doesn't match. Check Terminal makes that list for Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, U.S. Bank, PNC, Truist and Regions. You upload it to your bank.
